Camper Qualifications
The Cavett Kids Foundation wishes to provide nothing but the safest environment for every child to thrive! Because a child’s chronic or life-threatening illness can vary substantially, each child and their specific situation will be evaluated individually each year by our Medical Advisory Committee (MAC) to determine a camper’s eligibility.
Review the specific qualifications for each camp below.
Beach Camp Qualifications
Camper must meet all the General Camper Qualifications as well as:
Diagnosis: GI diagnosis (Crohns/Colitis, Liver Failure or Transplant, or More than 50% Nutrition received from TPN/Tube Feeds).
Ages 8-18 or senior in high school (mental & developmental age)
Campers must follow their medication schedule independently or with minor assistance.
Due to the sandy terrain of the camp, campers must be fully mobile and can ambulate independently.
Camp Cavett Qualifications
Camper must meet all the General Camper Qualifications as well as:
Diagnosis: Any limiting chronic or life-threatening illness
Ages 8-18 or senior in high school (mental & developmental age)
Campers must follow their medication schedule independently or with minor assistance.
Heart Camp Qualifications
Camper must meet all the General Camper Qualifications as well as:
Diagnosis: Congenital Heart Disease or Recipient of Heart Transplant
Ages 14-18 or senior in high school (mental & developmental age)
Campers must follow their medication schedule independently or with minor assistance.
Due to rocky terrain of the camp, campers must be fully mobile and can ambulate independently.
Kamp Kidney Qualifications
Camper must meet all the General Camper Qualifications as well as:
Diagnosis: Chronic Kidney Disease, Recipient of Kidney Transplant, Current Dialysis Patient, or PKU
Ages 8-18 or senior in high school (mental & developmental age)
Campers must follow their medication schedule independently or with minor assistance.
Due to the rocky, natural terrain of the campsite, campers with wheelchairs need to have the physical ability to walk short distances. The use of any mobility device must be discussed with CKF staff prior to the camp registration deadline.
Leadership Camp Qualifications
Camper must meet all the General Camper Qualifications as well as:
Diagnosis: Any limiting chronic or life-threatening illness
Ages 14-18 or senior in high school (mental & developmental age)
Campers must follow their medication schedule independently or with minor assistance.
Due to the campsite, campers with wheelchairs need to have the physical ability to walk short distances. The use of any mobility device must be discussed with CKF staff prior to the camp registration deadline.
Ski Camp Qualifications
Camper must meet all the General Camper Qualifications as well as:
Diagnosis: Cancer (priority given in the following order: sarcomas, brain tumors, physically disabled by cancer, and then all other types of cancer).
Ages 14-18 or senior in high school (mental & developmental age)
Campers must follow their medication schedule independently or with minor assistance.
